Carpet installation is the laying of commercial carpet — modular carpet tile or stretch-fitted broadloom — over a smooth, moisture-tested subfloor for offices, hotels, conference and institutional interiors across Greater Accra. Carpet brings acoustic comfort, warmth underfoot and a quiet, professional finish, and in tile form it lets a single worn tile be replaced without re-laying a room. As with every soft floor, durability and appearance depend on the subfloor and the grade specified for the traffic. Why Carpet Floors Fail in Ghana’s Conditions — and How We Prevent It
Carpet fails for three avoidable reasons. Subfloor moisture attacks the adhesive and backing over a slab without a working damp-proof membrane, letting tiles lift and broadloom ripple. A poorly prepared, dusty or uneven subfloor stops the adhesive gripping and shows every ridge through the pile. And specifying too light a carpet for the traffic produces the tracked, flattened, worn lanes you see in busy offices that were fitted with a domestic-grade carpet.
We prevent all three. We moisture-test the slab and prime and smooth the subfloor to a clean, sound base; we use the correct adhesive or stretch-fit method for tile or broadloom; and we specify a contract carpet grade rated for the actual footfall, not a domestic one. Carpet that stays flat, bonded and good-looking is carpet laid on a prepared base to the right specification.
Carpet Systems We Install in Accra
Modular Carpet Tile
The office standard — bonded tiles in quarter-turn, monolithic or ashlar patterns, allowing single-tile replacement, colour zoning and access-floor cabling beneath.
Stretch-Fitted Broadloom
Roll carpet stretched over gripper and underlay for a seamless look and comfort in conference rooms, hospitality and executive suites.
Acoustic & Access-Floor Systems
Carpet tile with acoustic backing over a raised access floor, coordinated with power and data services beneath — a common corporate specification.
Entrance & Barrier Matting
Entrance matting systems that capture grit and moisture at the door to protect the floors beyond and keep interiors clean.
The Carpet Standards We Work To
| Standard / control | What it governs | Why it decides the floor |
|---|---|---|
| Subfloor moisture testing | Slab dryness | Protects adhesive and backing from rising damp that lifts and ripples carpet |
| Smoothing & priming | Base flatness & grip | Even base so the pile lies flat and the adhesive grips |
| Contract carpet grade | Wear rating | Matches the carpet to the footfall so it does not track and flatten |
| Correct fixing method | Bond / stretch | Tackifier or full-stick for tile; proper stretch-fit for broadloom |
| Lay pattern & seam setting | Appearance | Balanced set-out and set seams for a professional finish |
How We Install a Carpet Floor
- Subfloor survey, moisture test & smoothing — slab moisture-tested, base smoothed.
- Prime & prepare the base — clean, sound, dust-free, edges made good.
- Lay carpet tile or stretch broadloom — set out and bonded or stretch-fitted in the specified pattern.
- Trim, detail & finish — perimeters, thresholds and seams detailed, clean and protect.
Carpet Tile vs Broadloom
| Carpet tile | Broadloom | |
|---|---|---|
| Repair | Replace a single tile | Patch a larger piece |
| Cabling / access floor | Ideal — lift a tile | Less convenient |
| Look | Modular, zoneable | Seamless |
| Best for | Offices, high-traffic commercial | Conference, hospitality, executive |
What Affects the Cost
- The carpet — tile vs broadloom, grade and backing
- Subfloor smoothing, priming and moisture control
- The lay pattern, any zoning/colour design and entrance matting
- Area (m²) and access, and coordination with an access floor
Every quote follows a site survey and subfloor moisture test — no fixed rate is given before the floor is assessed.

Frequently Asked Questions
Carpet tile or broadloom — which is better for an office? For most offices, carpet tile — you can replace a single worn tile, route cabling through an access floor and zone with colour. Broadloom gives a seamless look over large areas but patching a stain means a bigger piece. We specify to how the space is used.
Why does carpet ripple, lift or wear in tracks? Rippling and lifting from a poor bond or unstretched carpet over a damp/dusty subfloor; track wear from too light a grade for the traffic. We moisture-test, prepare the base, fix correctly and specify a contract grade for the footfall.
Can you supply acoustic and cabled-floor solutions? Yes — acoustic-backed carpet tile over an access floor dampens noise and lets cabling run beneath with tiles lifting for access. We coordinate with the access-floor and services layout.
How much does carpet installation cost? Quoted on survey — driven by the carpet, subfloor smoothing and moisture, lay pattern, area and access.
