Luxury vinyl tile (LVT) installation is the laying of a hard-wearing, water-resistant vinyl floor — in realistic wood- or stone-look planks and tiles — over a smooth, moisture-tested subfloor for retail, hospitality, healthcare, offices and commercial interiors across Greater Accra. LVT gives the look of timber or stone with the durability, water resistance and easy maintenance a busy commercial space needs, but because it is thin it demands a properly prepared subfloor — that preparation is where most LVT floors succeed or fail. Floor Experts Ghana installs commercial floor finishes across Ghana with over 30 years of flooring expertise.
Why LVT Floors Fail in Ghana’s Conditions — and How We Prevent It
LVT is a thin, glued (or floating) finish, so it fails for three preventable reasons. Subfloor moisture breaks the adhesive bond and lets the floor lift — a real risk on Ghana’s slabs without a working damp-proof membrane. An unsmoothed subfloor telegraphs every ridge, hollow and trowel mark straight through the thin tile, so the finished floor looks and feels rough. And a wrong adhesive or a poor bond lets edges curl and joints open, especially with heat.
We prepare the base to the standard the product needs. We moisture-test the slab, prime and apply a self-smoothing compound to give a flat, dust-free base, and use the correct adhesive for the product and conditions, rolling glue-down floors to bed them fully. A perfectly-laid LVT floor is really a perfectly-prepared subfloor with tiles on top.
LVT Systems We Install in Accra
Glue-Down LVT
Fully-bonded planks and tiles for retail, healthcare, hospitality and high-traffic commercial floors — stable, thin and ideal under rolling loads.
Rigid-Core Click LVT
A solid-core floating LVT that clicks together for fast installation and tolerance of a slightly less perfect subfloor, where a floating floor suits.
Wood- & Stone-Look Ranges
Realistic timber-plank and stone-tile visuals with bevelled edges and embossed texture — the appearance of wood or stone with vinyl durability.
Safety & Wet-Area Vinyl
Slip-resistant safety vinyl and welded-seam detailing for wet and clinical areas where hygiene and grip matter.
The LVT Standards We Work To
| Standard / control | What it governs | Why it decides the floor |
|---|---|---|
| Subfloor moisture testing | Slab dryness | Protects the adhesive bond so the floor does not lift |
| Smoothing compound & priming | Base flatness | Stops ridges telegraphing through the thin tile |
| Correct adhesive selection | Bond strength | Right adhesive for product and conditions prevents curling and open joints |
| Balanced set-out | Layout | Centre-line set-out avoids thin slivers and gives a professional finish |
| Rolling & seam treatment | Full bond / hygiene | Beds glue-down tiles; welded seams where wet-area hygiene demands |
How We Install an LVT Floor
- Subfloor survey, moisture test & smoothing — slab moisture-tested, base assessed.
- Prime & apply smoothing compound — flat, dust-free base for a full bond.
- Set out & lay — balanced set-out, glue-down bonded or rigid-core floated.
- Roll, trim & finish — bed the tiles, fit trims and thresholds, clean and protect.
Choosing the Right LVT
| Type | Install | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Glue-down LVT | Fully bonded | Retail, healthcare, hospitality, high-traffic commercial |
| Rigid-core click | Floating | Faster fit, slightly imperfect subfloors, offices |
| Safety vinyl | Bonded, welded seams | Wet, clinical and slip-critical areas |
What Affects the Cost
- The product — glue-down vs rigid-core, grade and visual
- Subfloor smoothing, priming and moisture control
- Set-out, pattern and any feature borders or wet-area welding
- Area (m²) and access
Every quote follows a site survey and subfloor moisture test — no fixed rate is given before the floor is assessed.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between glue-down and rigid-core (click) LVT? Glue-down is fully bonded — stable, thin and ideal for high-traffic commercial areas and rolling loads. Rigid-core clicks together as a floating floor, installing faster and tolerating a slightly less perfect subfloor but needing expansion room. We specify to the room.
Is LVT suitable for wet or high-traffic areas? Yes — it is water-resistant and hard-wearing, specified for retail, healthcare and hospitality. Genuinely wet areas need the right product, welded seams and perimeter detailing. For very heavy industrial loads, resin or concrete is better.
Why does LVT lift, curl or show every bump? Subfloor moisture, an unsmoothed subfloor, or the wrong adhesive/poor bond. We moisture-test, prime and smooth the base, and use the correct adhesive for the product and conditions.
How much does LVT installation cost? Quoted on survey — driven by the product, subfloor smoothing and moisture, set-out and pattern, area and access.
