A half-century of premium-floor commissioning

Floor Experts Ghana was founded in 1978 in Accra as the specialist firm that the country’s institutional clients commission when the floor has to read as part of the architecture, not as a separate trade. We started on Ridge District bank lobbies, premium hotel commissions at Airport City, and embassy residences in Cantonments — and we have remained the firm those clients return to across four decades of refits, second commissions, and heritage restorations.

Where our work lives

Our portfolio anchors in Accra’s most rigorously specified institutional interiors — Tier-1 banks across Ridge District, premium hotel public spaces and suite floors at Airport City and East Legon, embassy commissions in Cantonments and Roman Ridge, ambassadorial private residences across the diplomatic enclaves, and a steady stream of heritage residential commissions in Cape Coast’s Castle Quarter and the historic-Accra civic stock. We extend into Kumasi for institutional and judicial commissions, and into Takoradi where premium hospitality and corporate clients commission floors at the same specification grade.

What we specialise in

Premium hardwood installation — solid oak, solid walnut, and engineered white oak — laid to live-load institutional specification with moisture-equilibrated substrates and engineered acoustic underlayments. Bookmatched marble and travertine for hotel lobbies, ballroom floors, and embassy public spaces. Premium ceramic and porcelain tile installation at large-format, calibrated to under-1-millimetre joints. Custom mosaic glass and natural-stone mosaic floors for hospitality and heritage commissions, hand-laid where machine application would lose the geometry. Period stone conservation — sandstone, limestone, and indigenous Ghana granite lifted, colour-matched, and re-bedded in lime-compatible mortars suited to century-old substrates. Substrate engineering for live-load institutional and hospitality floors, with moisture verification, plane-tolerance surveys, and movement-joint design integrated before commissioning.

Who we work for

The institutional roster leads with financial institutions — commercial banks on Ridge District and central bank-tier institutions — alongside the multinational corporate headquarters and institutional facilities whose specification briefs are issued in writing before tender. We also serve premium hotels in Airport City and across the hospitality belt, diplomatic missions and residences in Cantonments and Roman Ridge, heritage residential commissions across the historic quarters, and national heritage-restoration programmes in Cape Coast’s Castle Quarter. Client references available on request.

The Project Office method

A single named lead is accountable for the whole of a Floor Experts Ghana commission, never a segment of it. Substrate moisture is measured to ASTM F2170. Plane tolerance is surveyed. Hardwood is moisture-acclimatised to site conditions before installation. Premium-finish fields are dry-laid before mortar commitment. The work is protected through the construction programme and handed over in writing. This is the method our institutional clients commission — and it is the reason the same clients return across re-fit cycles and second sites.

The half-century arc

The premium-floor trade has been remade in every respect since 1978. Engineered hardwoods have replaced solid for many compliance regimes. Large-format tile has displaced traditional mosaic for many lobby commissions. Heritage restoration regimes have tightened in step with Ghana Museums and Monuments Board’s specification requirements. What we sign for is unchanged: a floor that reads as part of the architecture, set down by one named specialist, recorded at handover, and still true long after the building has turned over its tenants twice. That was the promise in 1978, and it remains the promise we work to.
